The purpose of the foundation

The foundation “Fonden Gamle Sønderho” is the country's oldest local conservation association.

Its purpose is to actively contribute to the conservation of Fanø's culture and environment, particularly the town of Sønderho.

This purpose is sought to be achieved by:

• Owning and operating the museums Hannes Hus, Sønderho Mill, The Fire Museum, and The Old Rescue Station.

• Owning and maintaining the Foundation's collections, tile collection, and costume collection

• Owning and managing historically significant monuments, real estate, landscapes, environments, movable property, and ships.

• Collecting, documenting, and disseminating knowledge about methods, materials, and human expressions that are relevant to the foundation's purpose.
